MIKONGO WARD COUNCILLOR DIES IN A ROAD ACCIDENT

A 43-year old Councillor for Mikongo Ward in Mangochi identified as Adam Chinyangala has died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with another motorcycle due to overspeeding.
The tragedy occurred on the evening of June 3, 2024 at Chingo village along Bakili Muluzi Highway.
According to the eye witnesses Chinyangala(now deceased) on the said date was cruising unregistered BMW Motorcycle from the direction of Mangochi heading towards Namwera.
Upon arrival at Chingo village, due to overspeeding Chinyangala lost control of the motorcycle and fell on the tarmac road and was dragged to the other lane where he collided with another unregistered motorcycle which was coming from the opposite direction.
Due to the impact Chinyangala sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mangochi District Hospital while the other motorcyclist and his pillion passenger both sustained bruises on the right legs.
Police in the district are appealing to all road users to always follow road safety measures to avoid such accidents.
He hailed from Piyasi Village, Traditional Authority Chowe in Mangochi.
